Bathing fun in Éislek! Who needs sand, sea and palm trees when you can have sun, beach and relaxation in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg? This little paradise with a special holiday feeling is located in Lultzhausen, directly on the shores of the Upper Sûre reservoir lake with a bathing beach right next to the youth hostel and plenty of water sports facilities such as kayaking, canoeing and stand-up-paddling.
By prior reservation, you can hire kayaks, canoes or stand-up paddles (SUP) from the youth hostel from Wednesday to Sunday, from 25 May to 2 June and from 1 July to 14 September, as well as at weekends in June, for half or full days.

Prices are per boat :
- Canoe and Kayak Sit-on-Top: 36 €*
- Kayak: 21 €*
- SUP: 21 €*
*Non-member prices will be charged when booking online. 3 € per boat will be refunded in cash upon presentation of the Hostelling International youth hostel membership card at check-in. If you are a member of our association, please bring your valid membership card.
Deposit: 100 € for the first boat, 200 € (Compulsory: can be deposited in cash or by credit card)
- Each child aged 5 - 7 must be accompanied by two full paying adults.
- Each child and young person between the ages of 8 and 17 must be accompanied by a fully paying adult.
- Each child and young person aged 10 - 17 must be accompanied by a fully paying adult
- Each child and young person aged 10 - 17 must be accompanied by a fully paying adult
Rules:
- All participants are required to wear a life jacket (provided by the youth hostel).
- Participants must not be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
- All participants, both children and teenagers as well as adults, must be able to swim (for at least 15 minutes).
- A deposit of 100 € must be paid on site. The deposit will be refunded in full if the boats are returned without damage.
- During the time of rental, the client is responsible for the rented equipment. This means that the customer must ensure that he/she carries the equipment to the water and returns it to the youth hostel at the end of the activity.
- Private items can be taken onto the water at the customer's own risk and responsibility. However, the youth hostel cannot be held liable for destroyed or lost items.

Booking experience was perfect. I advise to reach either at 9:30 if you wish to book for 10:00-13:00, or if you wish to book for 14:00-17:00, make sure you book in advance on an expected sunny day.
Definitely recommend hiring if you are a one-timer. Recommend buying your own equipments if the frequency is more.

1) it should not be possible to book for a group that breaks this rule or at least you should be contacted prior to travelling to the place to check if you are aware the booking breaks the rule.
2) don’t be a single parent of more than one child
3) if an adult couple, don’t have more than two children
The boats are quite far from the water and need to be carried through a busy beach area.
The card payment machine doesn’t work- take cash.
Apart from this it was lovely.

A posteriori: es gibt keine Hilfestellung für die Boote ins Wasser zu setzen (für Kinder sind die Boote zu schwer und 1 Erwachsener kann diese nicht alleine tragen). Die ganze Operation ist wohl das gefährlichste an der ganzen Aktivität: die Wiese ist nass und rutschig , das Tor zu eng und nur halb offen - Verletzungen sind da die logische Folge.Fragen:
warum befinden sich die Boote nicht auf einem Bootsanhänger beim Wasser?
warum gibt es weder einen Weg noch eine Treppe die zum Wasser führt?
warum ist der Einstieg bei den Steinen nicht minimal professionell gelöst?
warum gibt es keinen professionellen Coach/Hilfe/ Einführung?
die Relation Anzahl Kinder / Erwachsene ist übertrieben, warum wird nicht gefragt ob die Fahrer überhaupt schwimmen können? 14 jährige sind keine 8 jährige....
ein stolzer Preis für das man das Boot nachher hochziehen und wieder auf die anderen Boote legen muss (mind. 2 Erwachsenen notwendig) - so wie die Aktivität angeboten wird wäre ein Preis von 10 Euro für das Material ok - die restlichen 22 Euro wären für einen enstprechenden Service ok aber so ist es überteuert.
zur Buchung: die Bestätigung dauert zu lange - Tag X um 15h00 gebucht für X+1 um 10h00. Bestätigung kam X+1 um 9h20 :-(
zur Kaution: warum eine Kaution hinterlegen wenn nachher das Material nicht mal pro forma gesichtet wird?
zum Umfeld: keine Mülltrennung :-((((
Ich werde die Aktivität weiter empfehlen mit der Bemerkung: à la luxembourgeoise oder anders gesagt würde heute nochmal vom Wetter profitieren und Kayak fahren kommen aber die Logistik fällt mich davon ab da ich alleine mit Kind schon beim Kayak wässern keine Lust aufkommen lässt - der Gedanke das Ding nachher wieder alleine hoch zu schleppen noch weniger.
Fazit: coole Aktivität mir sehr viel Luft nach oben - im grenznahen Vergleich lächerlich!

Allerdings ist niemand da der hilft die Kajaks von der Liegefläche zu nehmen, und zum Wasser zu bringen. Da Die Böschun steil ist , und die Leute ausserdem dort liegen, ist das Zurückbringen der Kayaks ziemlich anstrengend. Hier wäre ein Helfer sehr willkommen.

The staff at the youth hostel were very friendly and helped to pump up my nieces SUP & with guidance (thank you!). We could even leave our bags with them whilst being out. We didn't know that you can also change, have a shower and a coffe at the youth hostel.
A great and fun experience, wonderful people - we will be back!

For reservations you have to pay by creditcard, which I did not have. I sent them an e-mail and they made a reservation for me!
Bring your watershoes because the stones on the beach and in the water are sharp.

Etwas schwierig war der Transport der Boote zum Wasser. Dies mussten wir selbst machen, die Boote sind jedoch ziemlich schwer, vor allem den Hügel runter zum Wasser und danach wieder zurück.

Leider bin ich aber mit dem Preis-Leistungsverhältnis nicht zufrieden. Ich durfte das SUP nur 3 Stunden lang benutzen und hätte ich nur ein bisschen überzogen, dann hätte ich einen Zusatz bezahlen müssen. Für 21 € hätte ich mir persönlich aber mindestens 5-7 Stunden oder gar einen ganzen Tag erwartet. Immerhin ist der Obersauer Stausee relativ gross und man will ja auch vielleicht so viel wie möglich erkunden. Man ist auch nicht den ganzen Tag auf dem SUP, sondern man will sich ja vielleicht auch hinsetzen, eine kleine Pause einlegen und etwas essen, und von daher wirken diese 3 Stunden meiner Meinung nach ziemlich aufgezwungen und an den Haaren herbeigezogen. Daher gibt es nur 3 von 5 Sternen für das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis.
Allgemein bin ich aber sehr zufrieden und würde das ganze weiterempfehlen.
Guten Tag, wir bedanke uns bei Ihnen für Ihr Feedback. Das geleihte Material kann immer nur 3 Stunden (maximal 6 Stunden mit Aufpreis) gebucht werden, da wir auf Nummer sicher gehen müssen, dass die Kunden die am Nachmittag etwas gebucht haben auch sicher noch etwas bekommen. Es gibt andere Anbieter, die 15€ pro Stunde fragen und aus dem Grund denken wir, dass 21€ für 3 Stunden angemässen sind. Wir bedanken uns trotzdem bei Ihnen für die positive Bewertung und die Weiterempfehlung. Wir wünschen Ihnen noch ein schönen Tag.

A great start to the day. We went for the 10am-1pm session. The nearest car park, though expensive, is also small and gets full very quickly.

Petite remarque concernant le service, il faut porter le canoë soi-même pour le mettre et le sortir de l'eau sur une distance de 50 en pente, entre les nombreuses personnes présentes dans le chemin, ce qui est assez contraignant. Un accès à l'eau privé serait idéal.
Nous avons pris du retard en cherchant le lieu de réception des canoë, c'est assez mal renseigné.

Things to know: Parking is paying (3.5eur/hour) and the renting is strictly the 3hours defined in the time frame.
They provided us with dry bags and offered also waterproof cases for the phone.
Thank you for your review of watersports activity. In fact 1,4km away from the youth hostel are free parking spots. The parking area is called "Paring am Kéilert". We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed it and wish you a nice day!

Meine Tochter hat es mit der Schule ausprobiert und mir gesagt man würde alles erklärt bekommen.
(Jedoch war dem nicht so.)
Wir bekamen unsere drei SUP's gezeigt mit Paddeln und mussten selbst schauen die zum Ufer zu bekommen.
Meine Älteste (13) konnte mir G.s.D. helfen. Beim Letzen musste ich dann jedoch alleine ran. Das wurde ihr dann doch zu viel.
Da es recht frisch an dem Tag war bekamen wir auf Anfrage für meine Jüngste (11) eine Windjacke.
Als wir gerade ins Wasser sollten, sahen meine zwei Mädels jedoch andere mit Neopren und sie wollten entsprechend auch welche.
Somit verloren wir viel Zeit bevor wir erstmals im Wasser waren.
Da meine älteste dies schon Mal getan hatte, gin es dann aber recht schnell ins Wasser.
Eine kurze Einweisung für Neulinge wäre wünschenswert (+/-5-10min). Als wir da waren, waren eh nicht viele Leute da!
Hallo und danke für Ihren ausführlichen Kommentar. Es freut uns zu lesen dass Sie von unserem Verleih Service profitieren konnten. Es handelt sich dabei aber wie gesagt nur um einen Verleih. Deshalb ist normalerweise keine Einführung vorgesehen. Wir versuchen dies aber bei so vielen Gästen wie möglich zu machen, damit der Verleih problemlos abläuft. Es tut uns leid dass unsere Studenten Ihnen keine Einweisung angeboten haben. Was die Neoprenanzüge angeht, sollten unsere Studenten diese auch mitanbieten, wenn das Wetter nicht so warm ist. Dies wurde wie es scheint leider auch vergessen, da es die letzen Wochen so heiss war und wir diese Saison noch fast keine Neoprens ausleihen mussten. Wir entschuldigen uns für diese Unannehmlichkeiten.

J'étais seule avec mon fils et nous avons du nous débrouiller, autant pour déplacer le canoë sur terre que pour manœuvrer sur l'eau. Quelqu'un qui montre les bons gestes n'aurait pas été de trop.
La personne qui gérait les locations était souriante et sympa mais pas dispo et elle formait une autre personne qui lui n'a pas décroché un sourire ni un mot.

En effet, des explications sont prévues lors de la location. Mais étant donné que ce jour-là était un des plus chargés de l'été, nos collègues n'ont pas pu s'occuper de vous comme ils l'auraient voulu.

Ja, als ich im Juni buchen wollte wurde mir gesagt, alle Boote seien bis Ende Juli reserviert !!! Am Ende hat mir eine Bekannte eine Mobilfunknummer mitgeteilt, über die es dann - zugegeben ein paar Wochen später - geklappt hat.
Jedem über 12, die oder der Lust hat, den Stausee zu erforschen und dort ruhige, anderweitig nicht oder schwer zugängliche Uferbereiche zu entdecken und neue Ausblicke auf die Landschaft zu bekommen.
Hallo Antoinette. Danke für Ihren Kommentar. Da unser Buchungssystem erst ab 1. Juli online Buchungen ermöglicht, konnten Sie leider im Juni noch kein Boot buchen. Dies bedeutet aber nicht dass schon alles ausgebucht war. Am schnellsten und einfachsten ist halt eine Online-Buchung über unsere Webseite. Dies klappt aber erst ab Eröffnung der Badesaison, da unser System, also vom 1. Juli bis zum 15. September über unsere Seite www.youthhostels.lu. Wenn Sie Hilfe bei der Buchung benötigen, lassen Sie es uns wissen.

Ayant loué un canoé pour en faire avec mon fils de 7 ans j’aurai apprécié un coup de main pour porter le canoé (~70kg) jusqu’à l’eau. J’ai failli me casser le dos et écraser mon fils. Un peu cher pour le service.

Nous sommes désolés que vous n'étiez pas tout à fait content avec notre service, mais dans nos règles c'est clairement mentionnées que le client est responsable lui-même pour le transport du matériel jusqu'à l'eau (des règles qui ont été acceptées en validant la commande du matériel) (Dès le moment de la location, le client est responsable du matériel loué. Cela signifie que le client doit porter de manière autonome le matériel jusqu'à l'eau et le ramener à l'auberge de jeunesse après la fin de l'activité.) Tatsächlich arbeiten wir seit diesem Jahr ganz neu mit dem Regiondosystem zusammen, und deshalb kann es anfangs noch vorkommen, dass nicht alles ganz reibungslos funktionniert.
